Bon Jour Mes Amis!
I am posting from the 3rd floor apartment in Les Places de Vosges in the 8th district of Paris. It is currently 8:10 am here and I have been awake for hours, watching the city wake up slowly. I love being awake while everyone else sleeps. I've had a very productive morning full of skittles, college application essays, photo uploading and Boy Meets World reruns. I was reminded of how much I miss Corey & Topanga and the 90's in general. Also, I finished my first book of the summer. A beautiful short book full of letters called 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower.' You should definitely pick up a copy. I still have 36 days left in my European adventure. Yesterday, while exploring a street market, I decided that one of my goals of this trip will be to photograph my food. Food seems to be what life here revolves around, which is perfectly fine with me. I'll cook it, eat it or photograph it and be a very happy traveler.

I am officially done with my junior year of high school and it feels very strange. In exactly a year, I will be graduating and starting a new adventure. Time is funny thing. Anyways, I was reading through my notebook from my trip to Cambodia and I found this little description of my first morning in Phnom Penh. Read away...
Sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor,
watching the sun rise slowly in the Cambodian sky.
This beauty is seen through the arms of a palm tree,
the open curtains of a window,
and the morning eyes of a traveler,
ready to start her day.
Blessed is this moment.

Extreme Sidewalk Chalk
Unfortunately, I can't post this video on my blog, but I can encourage you to watch it especially if you should be studying for finals like me. It's a music video of sidewalk chalk to Coldplay's Strawberry Swing. Check it out!

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, Please Shine Down on Me...
It's rainy and it's June and that's just not supposed to happen.
This is why I haven't posted anything in a week. I have no sunshine and happiness to blog about. Summer is coming, but I won't really believe that until my finals are complete and my dear friend, Mr. Sun has come back into my life. Until that day, here's a few photos that I didn't take. They are from lookbook.nu and a blog all about cake.

Sound of Sunshine
I don't usually like to post two videos in a row, but I was waiting for my best friend in a grocery store parking lot (we like to go on organic grocery adventures together) and I heard this song on the radio and it brightened my extremely rainy day so I had to post it in hopes that it would bring some sunshine to whoever actually reads this blog!

Oh hey, seventeen...
Hello friends! Today is tuesday, May 4th 2010 and at 6:35 tonight, I will move into my seventeenth year of life. I have lived for 6,250 days which is 148,920 minutes. How long have you lived for? Also...for my birthday, I asked for a label-maker. A new era of over-organization is coming my way and I cannot wait. Have a wonderful day!

The Paradox of Our Time - George Carlin
The paradox of our time in history is that
we have taller buildings but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy less
We have bigger houses and smaller families,
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life,
we’ve added years to life not life to years.
We’ve been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We’ve done larger things, but not better things.
We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
big men and small character;
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses but broken homes.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up
to you in awe, because that little person soon
will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you,
because that is the only treasure you can give with
your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.
Remember, to hold hands and cherish the moment,
for some day that person will not be there again.
Give time to Love, give time to speak, give time to
share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Happy Earth Day!

I'm off on a grand adventure
I won't be posting anything new for 13 whole days because I will be on an adventure in Cambodia! I will be exploring temples, teaching kids to dance and speak english and hopefully not getting malaria! I can hardly wait. Wish me good luck and happy thoughts, please!
And also, whether you celebrate Easter or not, you should definately eat perogies (polish dumplings) on Sunday because I won't be home to join in on the Polish Easter tradition!

Yellow
I know that this blog is supposed to be full of happy, colorful thoughts and images, but this is not one of them. Well, it is colorful...
I will carry you until the scars are gone,
the body is new and the mind is clear.
I will set you down in a field of tall, yellow grass
so that the sun will give its light
and the wind will give its breath.
All for you, sunshine.
I will rub circles in the small of your back
and hum a lullaby.
I will press my hands together and rest my lips on top
And think pretty thoughts for the universe to hear and heal you.
And this moment will be beautiful and pure.
Our room will be restored and the walls will again
A Yellow Restoration
To the girl with the yellow hair,
With the sweetheart smile
And the worried stare.
I am standing here
more than willing to carry you.
Across bridges and mountains
and oceans and deserts and fields
and you can find yourself again.
To the girl with the yellow hair,
With the sweetheart smile
And the worried stare.
I am standing here
more than willing to carry you.
Across bridges and mountains
and oceans and deserts and fields
and you can find yourself again.
Our room will be restored and the walls will again
be painted yellow,
Just like the sun and the shade of your hair.
Just like the sun and the shade of your hair.
