Yellow
I know that this blog is supposed to be full of happy, colorful thoughts and images, but this is not one of them. Well, it is colorful...
I will carry you until the scars are gone,
the body is new and the mind is clear.
I will set you down in a field of tall, yellow grass
so that the sun will give its light
and the wind will give its breath.
All for you, sunshine.
I will rub circles in the small of your back
and hum a lullaby.
I will press my hands together and rest my lips on top
And think pretty thoughts for the universe to hear and heal you.
And this moment will be beautiful and pure.
Our room will be restored and the walls will again
A Yellow Restoration
To the girl with the yellow hair,
With the sweetheart smile
And the worried stare.
I am standing here
more than willing to carry you.
Across bridges and mountains
and oceans and deserts and fields
and you can find yourself again.
To the girl with the yellow hair,
With the sweetheart smile
And the worried stare.
I am standing here
more than willing to carry you.
Across bridges and mountains
and oceans and deserts and fields
and you can find yourself again.
Our room will be restored and the walls will again
be painted yellow,
Just like the sun and the shade of your hair.
Just like the sun and the shade of your hair.

Seven Years Old
Today was a wonderful spring day. I was stopped at a red light so a family could cross the street. The daughter was wearing pink pants and a purple shirt and light-up velro sneakers. She had short blonde hair and was skipping across the street while tripping on her pink, sparkly jump rope. Oh how I miss being seven years old.

Hakuna Matata
This week has been crazy, and it is only Wednesday. However, last night I discovered a box of casettes from my childhood. Let's just say my drive to school this morning while having a listen in on songs from my past was the perfect remedy for my mid-week grumpiness. I found the soundtrack to The Lion King, some Billy Joel, Carole King and a little Simon & Garfunkel. It was wonderful. I plan on some more childhood searching next weekend. Maybe I'll feel adventurous and tackle the garage. Untill then, I encourage you to open a box of stuff from your past. It might just make your day.

Tea Party
Tea Time. First of all, I love making tea. There is something calming about choosing a tea bag from my Eiffel Tower 'tea tin,' ripping it open carefully and then picking out a mug from the shelf. My family is a coffee-drinking family so we have an entire cabinet in our kitchen devoted to our collection of mismatched and well-loved mugs. My coffee mug is a plain-jane beige mug with red-checks around the rim; however, my tea drinking mugs have a much bigger personality.
There are 3 mugs I always reach for when brewing my favorite chai or ginger peach tea. The first is one my older sister painted. It says "I can change the world" and the inside says "with my own two hands." I can't even tell you how much this describes my sister. I'm glad she left it at home when she left for college so I can use it often and remember her favorite Ben Harper song, With My Own Two Hands.
My second tea mug is robin's egg blue with blue and brown polka dots. The inside has tiny rainbow polka dots and the bottom of the inside is perfectly pink. The Beatles' lyrics, "Blackbird singing in the dead of night..." are painted around the bottom rim of the mug. The date, June 17th, 2009 is painted on the bottom; the date of my best friend's 16th birthday.
My last mug is beautiful and new and white and from anthropologie. It has an "M" on it. It was a Valentine's Day gift from my Mom. Ever since February 14th, my tea intake has drastically increased.
I have a theory that each person's collections of things say alot about them. What do your things say about you?
